Kim Sakkat has a reputation of mythical proportions: stories of sexual encounters; tales of liaisons with kisaeng; an account of a putative marriage with an epileptic girl; reports of fiery exchanges with greedy landowners, stingy teachers and inhospitable monks are the subject matter of his poems. He is Korea's best known and best loved folk figure.
